LONDON: At a time when UTV has just announced its plans to create Indian super heroes with Virgin Comics, it's already got one superhero incubating - only nobody in India is very likely to see this one. He's going to be born into the esoteric circles of international console gaming, which rarely, if ever, touch down in India. So what's UTV doing with a super hero that's vaguely Japanese and vaguely Nordic, will feature on Sony's latest PS3 platform, is being developed with proprietary British technology, but is unlikely to ever show up in India? "UTV understands the film space, and we found that a lot of American game companies are not very flexible," he says. "Besides, I get to spend the money ... and maybe someday we can make a film out of the character." War Devil is a third person action adventure game, due for release in 2008, and has a development budget of around GBP 2 mn.
