Bulls take a breather after marathon

Equities fell for the first time in 12 trading sessions on Thursday, but bears were denied a convincing win. Major indices fell around 2% during the day, but managed to recoup most of their losses by the end of the session.
The 30-share Sensex closed at 17,777.14, down 69.90 points, after hitting an intra-day low of 17,494.70. The fall in the Nifty was steeper, with the index shedding 66 points, or nearly 1%, to close at 5,166.80.
