MUMBAI: It was a setback for retail investors on Monday. Fresh political concerns caught investors on the wrong foot, as benchmark indices succumbed to sustained selling pressure on Monday.
The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices, in fact, underperformed the broader market, ending 3.7% and 3.3% down, respectively, against the Sensex’s fall of 1.6% on Monday. The sharp fall was also reflected in the index representing the SME segment.
