Telcos clash over spectrum allocation at Raja meet

NEW DELHI: It’s an industry that just can’t present a united front. The meeting between telecom minister A Raja and the telecom industry to discuss policy issues and changes that need to be incorporated in the wake of the sudden rush for telecom licences ended in GSM and CDMA-based operators clashing on the contentious issue of spectrum allocation and the methodology to be adopted for it. Operators on both technology platforms have been at loggerheads over the issue of spectrum allocation for several months now — both sides have even sought the prime minister’s intervention to solve the issue.
